Town of Wallingford 45 South Main Street, Wallingford, CT EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician- Basic) in Wallingford, Connecticut

: A person in this position r esponds to emergency medical calls for service including fires, accidents and other emergencies.

: Operates an emergency vehicle to and from the scene of an emergency; Assists paramedics and other emergency medical personnel in providing emergency medical and health care; Operates and monitors communications equipment to maintain contact with dispatchers; Provides emergency medical care to the ill and injured within the scope of an Emergency Medical Technician; Transports patients to hospitals or other emergency care facilities; Assists receiving facility to obtain and record patients vital statistics and circumstances of emergency; Prepares reports for billing and other record keeping purposes; Participates in training, public education, and station/equipment maintenance; Performs other related duties as required.

: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge of basic life support techniques and procedures; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; ability to safely and effectively operate an emergency vehicle; ability to handle a high volume of emergency calls with tact and good judgment; willingness to work any shift assignment including weekends, holidays, overtime;ability to rapidly evaluate and manage a variety of emergency situations; ability to assimilate and apply large amounts of information for medical related activities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies and the general public; good physical agility and stamina to do prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions. Minimum Qualifications:Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicants must have reached their 18 thbirthday and be a Connecticutor National Registry Certified Emergency Medical Technician with CPR Certification. When asked by the system: you must upload a copy of your current and valid EMT certificate. Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut motor vehicle operators license.
