This summer, we're looking for two enthusiastic and creative students to join our Design Team. While both roles sit within the design department, they offer two distinct paths: one focused on Systems & 3D Asset Management and the other on Applied Design and Presentation. .
Role 1: Sketchup Systems Coordinator
Reporting to Carlin Mantynen
In this role, you will be the guardian of our digital assets. You'll ensure our 3D library is lean, organized, and functional, acting as a "librarian" for our technical design components.
What You'll Own:
Asset Management: Audit and organize the SketchUp Component and Materials libraries; identifying files to be archived, updated, or added and performing these changes. Supporting the development and maintenance of 2D and 3D assets in the standard product portfolio.
Optimization: Reduce file sizes and optimize components to ensure high-performance modeling across the team.
Technical Translation: Support the translation of 3D models between Rhino, SketchUp, and SolidWorks while retaining functionality.
Rendering Prep: Prepare models for rendering with Enscape and manage lighting/material settings.
Skills You Bring:
Advanced SketchUp: Expert in modeling, dynamic components, metadata utilization, and troubleshooting complex models.
Technical Eye: High attention to detail with an understanding of 2D/3D file imports/exports.
Rendering Familiarity: Knowledge of lighting and photo editing for 3D visualization.
Role 2: Applied Playground Designer
Reporting to Ross Ricupero
In this role, you will help bring our concepts to life for clients. You'll be responsible for the "look and feel" of our proposals and the graphic details that make our playgrounds unique.
What You'll Own:
Visual Storytelling: Create high-impact presentation decks, color packages, and document templates using Adobe Creative Suite.
Custom Graphics: Design interactive play panels and create precision vector files for laser engraving and CNC production.
Reference Materials: Research past work to build a reference library for new designs.
Scope and Site: Assist with the development of 3D model base plans, play equipment inventories, and effective visual communication of designs.
Skills You Bring:
Advanced Adobe Suite: Expert in InDesign and Illustrator; skilled in vector-based art and quick design iterations.
Graphic Competency: Proven ability to create professional layouts and standardized templates.
Foundational 3D: Comfortable navigating SketchUp to drop in components, rotate assets, and set up basic scenes for rendering.
Basic AutoCAD: Ability to work with layers and export files between CAD and Illustrator.
