POSITION PURPOSE
At the direction of the Access Services Manager, the Circulation Supervisor is accountable for supervising Access and User Services during weekend hours of operation (Saturday, 10AM - 6PM; Sunday, 10AM - 5PM) overseeing space for a vibrant campus community. This includes circulation, course reserves, stacks maintenance, interlibrary loan and resource sharing services. This position supervises student Circulation Assistants and ensures the security of the Library, including opening and closing the facility. This is a part-time position with an FTE of 0.25 working 520 hours during the 9-month academic year.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Public Services Supervision (30%)
• Learn, review and provide feedback to the Access Services Manager for policies for Whitman and Walla Walla Community members.
• Oversee public service and maintain a secure environment conducive to studying during assigned working hours.
• Directly resolve complicated issues, whether in person, on email or over the phone with library patrons.
• Work with Whitman Security, the Access Services Manager and the Head of User Services to ensure security during assigned working hours.
Access Services Operations Supervision (30%)
• Supervise Interlibrary Loan (ILL), Consortial Resource Sharing (Summit) and Fulfillment operations during assigned shifts to support scholarly work and ensure the Collection is maintained in working order.
• Oversee and adjust the schedule for routine tasks for student workers.
• Utilize procedures and train student workers on using procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Create community patron accounts and processes payments for library borrower's cards and fines.
Student Worker Supervision and Support (20%)
• Supervise student workers during assigned shifts.
• Train recently onboarded student workers on routine tasks.
• Monitor work of student workers and provide feedback as needed, communicating larger patterns or behavioral issues to the Access Services Manager.
Evolving Project Support and Maintenance (20%)
• Supervise, assign and perform project work.
• Maintain and develop skills that are necessary for the position's duties.
