Stantec is seeking an experienced Nursery Technician in our Walkerton, Indiana location. This person will be key in performing day to day sowing, planting, transplanting, and shipping activities in all departments at the nursery. This person must be able to work independently or as a team consistently.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Shipping plants to our client with quality and accuracy
Greenhouse construction, re-covering and maintenance
Small and Large machine operation (weed eater, chainsaw, lawnmower, UTV, Forklift, Tractor)
General landscaping task includes mowing, herbicide application, tree trimming and maintenance, controls invasive weeds
Transplanting and maintaining plants
Works on the Irrigation process and irrigation maintenance
Assisting other departments doing bare root plant extractions
Assisting with plug planting, plug production, splitting of plug planting weeding, watering, seed harvest, seed cleaning, processing seed, onsite seed production, and offsite seed collection
Assisting with pulling orders, shipping, all inventory, and order fulfillment responsibilities.
Occasionally metering and blending seed mixes for our clients
Additional Nursery task as needed.
Your Capabilities and Credentials - 3-5 years of relevant experience
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
Must be able to learn how to safely operate a Forklift, UTV and Tractor
Must be able to tolerate excessive heat and humidity
Capable of being on your feet for hours at a time
Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship
