GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Assist individuals with a disability in obtaining, maintaining, and stabilizing employment in settings and securing accommodations if needed.

  • Provide core vocational rehabilitation services, including counseling and guidance, job placement and job-seeking activities, information and referrals, and career assessments.

  • Collaborate with WIOA partners to ensure utilization of services such as resume building, interview preparation, job applications, etc.

  • Collaborate and implement Pre-ETS programs within the schools and community.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with locally assigned schools and staff.

  • Work with youth with disabilities in the school setting and have knowledge of IEP/504 and IDEA.

  • Maintain client files in the electronic case management system through timely entry of case notes and service provisions.

  • Analyze information from interviews, medical records, consultations with other professionals, and diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' abilities, needs, limitations, and eligibility for services.

  • Assists with all aspects of vendor management activities, including recruiting, training, and monitoring of services.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, such as schools, community healthcare providers, and social service organizations.

  • Attend community events such as job fairs and other opportunities to provide information on DVR services.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Master's Degree

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with youth with disabilities in the school setting and, knowledge of IEP/504 and IDEA

Preference will be given to candidates with counseling-related experience and an understanding of counseling theory and application

Preference will be given to candidates with strong case management, organization, and case documentation experience

Preference may be given to candidates who are qualified to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam.

Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of local employers and educational institutions.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience using Google and Microsoft software.

**The selected candidate is expected to enroll in and complete a master's in Rehabilitation Counseling program that is in accordance with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation policy. Funding for the degree will be a combination of agency funds and Rehabilitative Services Administration scholarships. The selected candidate will be expected to sign an education contract.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of industrial, commercial, and professional occupations suitable for disabled persons.

  • Knowledge of available training facilities and employment opportunities for a variety of occupations.

  • Knowledge of the psychological and social issues of the disabled.

  • Knowledge of client data collection.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the area of specification.

  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation programs and procedures.

  • Knowledge of the services offered by various community organizations.

  • Skilled in creating and conducting presentations.

  • Ability to track and maintain monthly expenses related to client needs.

  • Skilled in accurate data entry, reporting, and documentation

  • Knowledge of tools, resources, and assessments to help individuals with a disability identify employment interests and aptitudes

  • Knowledge and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of different individuals and constituents in a professional and positive manner

  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution

  • Knowledge of effective organization and time management techniques

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (in Counseling or Social Services)

Experience:

0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Vocational Rehabilitation)
