What You’ll Do (A Day in the Life)
As the Swimming Pool Manager, you’ll lead daily pool operations from opening through closing, ensuring the facility is safe, compliant, and ready to serve the community. Your day includes testing and balancing pool chemicals, monitoring safety and health regulations, and overseeing staff schedules and coverage. You’ll provide direction and support to lifeguards and pool staff, conduct brief check-ins, and lead regular staff meetings to keep operations running smoothly. You’ll also be the go-to person for patron questions or concerns, handle customer service issues professionally, and document incidents as needed.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking dependable leaders who can remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions independently. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to confidently enforce rules, address difficult situations, and maintain high safety standards. Prior aquatics or supervisory experience is preferred.
Incumbents are responsible for monitoring participants and supervising personnel at an aquatic facility.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general supervision for higher level Aquatic and/or Recreation Management.
Typical Class Essential Duties
Serves as the on-site supervisor for the operation of an aquatic facility (such as a swimming pool, wading pool or water slide) including assisting in the selection of assigned staff, staff training; creating staff schedules; ensuring the facility opens on time; the facility is always clean; birthday parties are set up at the appropriate time; assigning work; and assisting with maintaining a healthy and safe work environment.
Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the aquatic facility or program.
Performs routine maintenance on Aquatic Facilities including backwashing, cleaning out strainer baskets, and vacuuming the pool floor. Notifies the Recreation Supervisor regarding mechanical system issues at an assigned aquatics facility.
Monitors the water quality and implements chemical remediation as needed.
Patrols pool areas to observe activities of individuals to ensure participant safety and compliance with facility rules.
Ensures/maintains appropriate tasks associated with an aquatic facility including water quality log sheets; receives and verifies payments, processes and maintains related records to reconcile accounts receivable tasks.
Assists with administrative tasks associated with the operation of an assigned aquatic facility.
Organizes, practices and evaluates the Emergency Action Plan for an assigned aquatics facility. Performs rescues, or provides necessary assistance for endangered or tired swimmers as needed.
Serves as a facility contact for the Recreation Supervisor; attends weekly compliance meetings.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training, Experience & Certifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
• Minimum of one season of experience as a Swimming Pool Assistant Manager at the Casper Family Aquatics Program or of similar level of position outside of our organization.
LICENSING and CERTIFICATIONS:
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates required.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification required.
• Possession of a valid Wyoming Driver’s License preferred.

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbent is be subject to perform duties either indoors or outdoors, which may include extreme climate/weather conditions (warm humid indoors/unpredictable weather outdoors) and ongoing exposure to sun and pool chemicals and smells such as chlorine. The nature of duties involves constant mental and visual attention and standing for long periods of time. Incumbents must possess the physical stamina to respond effectively to emergency situations by utilizing strong swimming skills. In a public pool environment there will be exposure to noisy, distracting and stressful situations including a fast-paced customer service environment.
