New York University Sessional Lecturer in General Physics I in United States
NYU Sydney is seeking a lecturer to teach the course 'General Physics I' to undergraduate students during the NYU semester of August-November 2026. Class meets tentatively twice a week with lectures and recitations tentatively scheduled on Wednesdays and Thurdsays 11am-1pm and laboratory classes on Thursdays 6-8pm, though final schedules will be discussed with the chosen candidate.
Responsibilities of the instructor include preparing and leading the weekly class sessions, recitations and laboratory classes as well as course coordination, writing assignments, and grading. Lecturers are paid at competitive casual academic rates aligned with local enterprise agreements. In addition to their teaching duties, they will be paid to attend periodic meetings and training, including an induction meeting during the orientation week prior to the start of the semester.
Classes take place at the University of Sydney's Camperdown/Darlington Campus.
Course Description
This course begins a two-semester introduction to physics (lecture and laboratory-recitation) intended primarily for preprofessional students and for those majoring in a science other than physics. Topics include kinematics and dynamics of particles; momentum, work, and energy; gravitation; circular, angular, and harmonic motion; and mechanical properties of solids, liquids, and gases.
