SUMMARY:
Provide enterprise leadership for the organization's global growth strategy by identifying, evaluating, and advancing international development opportunities that expand mission impact and strengthen long-term sustainability. The International Development Executive Advisor builds and manages a robust pipeline of markets, partners, and funding sources; leads due diligence and negotiation; oversees launch and performance of international partnerships and programs; and serves as a senior advisor to leadership on global opportunities, risks, and operating models.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Set and execute a multi-year international development strategy aligned with organizational priorities, values, and growth goals.
Develop and steward strategic relationships with international stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, foundations, corporate partners, governments, and peer networks).
Evaluate new markets and partnership opportunities through structured discovery, feasibility assessments, and risk-based due diligence.
Design scalable partnership and program models (e.g., replication, licensing, joint initiatives) that balance mission outcomes, financial sustainability, and local context.
Oversee financial planning for international initiatives, including budget development, forecasting, and performance management
SPECIFIC DUTIES1:
Create and maintain a prioritized international opportunity pipeline, including clear go/no-go criteria, business cases, and resourcing plans.
Lead license/partner identification, engagement, and negotiation; draft and finalize MOUs, partnership agreements, license agreements, and related documentation in collaboration with Legal.
Direct market entry and expansion planning, including stakeholder mapping, operating model selection, implementation timelines, and transition plans.
Guide the development of playbooks, toolkits, and operating standards that enable consistent, high-quality execution across international partnerships and licenses.
Oversee program and partner performance against agreed-upon objectives, budgets, and impact indicators; ensure timely reporting and course correction.
Identify, pursue, and steward international funding opportunities (e.g., grants, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, fee-for-service arrangements) to diversify and grow revenue.
Establish measurement frameworks to track outcomes, operational performance, and return on investment; communicate results to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
Proactively monitor external factors (economic, regulatory, geopolitical, and sector trends) that affect international strategy and recommend adjustments as needed.
Represent the organization in international forums and cultivate thought leadership that strengthens credibility, partnerships, and mission visibility.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to design, launch, and support international initiatives.
External: Build trusted relationships with international licensees, partners, funders, government agencies, multilateral organizations, and subject-matter experts to advance strategy and strengthen program effectiveness.
SKILLS NEEDED 2 :
Strategic leadership with demonstrated ability to translate vision into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
Strong business acumen, including financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
Strong Artificial Intelligence (AI) knowledge with the ability to integrate into operations.
Experience building and managing complex licenses and partnerships; strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of international development practices, cross-cultural leadership, and operating effectively across diverse geographies.
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to assess risk, prioritize, and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and partner-facing communications.
Bi-lingual with fluency in English and Korean language.
Strong project/program management and process improvement skills; ability to develop scalable playbooks and standards.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in business, international relations/development, public administration, finance, or a related discipline required. Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, MA in International Development) preferred or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
15+ years of progressive experience in international development, global partnerships, market expansion, strategy, or related leadership roles; including 5+ years leading teams and managing budgets.
Demonstrated success developing and executing growth strategies, forming partnerships, and delivering measurable results in complex environments.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to bridge performance metrics to operational and mission impact.
Experience working across functions and time zones; ability to build alignment among diverse stakeholders.
Nonprofit, social enterprise, or network/affiliate-model experience preferred.
DECISION MAKING:
Exercises independent judgment in assessing international opportunities, recommending investment and operating approaches, and negotiating partnership terms. Make timely, risk-informed decisions that align with organizational strategy, capacity, and mission impact.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Sedentary work with periodic travel (30-40%), including international travel, as business needs require. Occasional lifting to 25 pounds and rarely up to 50 pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer are required; walking and standing occasionally.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
Work environment can be fast-paced and complex with periods of high stress, including time-sensitive decisions and work across multiple time zones. Must demonstrate a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in meeting daily challenges.
