GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

If so, join Wyoming State Parks for a summer of adventure and teamwork in beautiful Sink Canyon State Park! Sinks Canyon is located just outside of Lander, WY, and is home to unique geological features, abundant wildlife, and world-class rock climbing. The park is currently seeking enthusiastic seasonal staff to fill summer positions, which typically run from mid-May through mid-September, with hours varying per week. Limited housing may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
Park Aide:
Provide excellent internal and external customer service to staff and park guests
Work independently and as a team to conduct daily operations
May be required to assist with the feeding and care of live exhibit animals, including reptiles and small mammals
May be required to assist at the Visitor Center, answering questions and operating the computer/register for reservations and sales
Greet guests, answer visitor questions, and provide pertinent information about the site and the surrounding area
Engage with visitors through interpretive techniques to provide education and site orientation
Handle monetary transactions for gift shop sales
Handle monetary transactions for campground reservations
Operate a computer and tablet for reservations and gift shop sales
Reconcile the cash register after each shift
Maintain a visually pleasing gift shop area, restock the gift shop shelves, and track inventory
Answer a multi-line telephone system. Transfer calls to appropriate personnel
Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry
Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning and maintenance, as needed
Develop and present interpretive programs, guided hikes, and hands-on activities to guests of all ages
Assist with the development of non-personal interpretive content, including social media and interpretive graphics
Assist with the development and implementation of special events
Provide janitorial services in the visitor center and campgrounds
Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance
Perform minor carpentry repairs and painting
Assist staff in construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation projects
Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy equipment
Operate various maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required for daily operations
Utilize various hand and power tools
Ensure proper use of Personal Protection Equipment and follow handling and safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals and fuel products that are encountered in daily operations
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
**Must have a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 18 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
Excellent communication skills for working with staff and visitors from around the world
Excellent customer service skills with staff and visitors
Ability to be flexible with work assignments and assigned duties
Willingness to work on a variety of different tasks every day
Ability to perform routine and potentially mundane tasks
Experience in money handling and retail sales
Experience in basic construction
Experience in the use of basic power and hand tools

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
