Lift Safety Inspector

Your main responsibilities

As a Lift Safety Inspector, you will inspect and test lifts and escalators/moving walks in accordance with all applicable internal and external safety standards, in order to demonstrate they are safe to be used or put into service, are compliant with relevant codes and are in accordance with Schindler's quality standards. You will set the standards with passion and drive for safety, quality, and customer excellence. You will be an integral part of the ongoing success of our company’s delivering the most reliable and highest-quality elevators and escalators in the industry.

This role is permanent, fulltime, minimum 40 hours of work per week in our offices in Christchurch, covering the Southern Island.

Your role will involve:

  • Inspecting lift or escalator/moving walk according to CPSI and SAIS requirements by performing defined tests, measuring, checking and comparing with acceptance criteria and recording and documenting results

  • Confirm if the Declaration of Conformity can be issued and the lift / escalator complies with relevant codes & standards

  • Coach the installation and maintenance teams (internal, external) during inspection process and provide technical support

  • Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with agreed methods & procedures.

  • To assist with Retrofit actions

What you bring

  • Either a minimum experience of 5 years’ experience as a Lifts Service Technician or a Lift Repairs Technician or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 (Trade Certificate or Diploma) in the Mechanical or Electrical area.

  • EWRB Electrical Service Technician Registered or Limited Certificate or Provisional License.

  • Previous experience working with; Commodity lifts, Escalators/Moving Walks and Custom lifts (NI/MOD)

  • Extensive product knowledge, sufficient electrical and mechanical skills to perform the required tasks, and be familiar with the use of field tools.

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of safety components, safety relevant subsystems, system related safety issues/hazards, relevant codes and standards, and in accessing technical or code related documentation

  • Full and clean NZ driver’s license

  • Compensation & Benefits. Base (Depending on qualification and industry experience): $85,000 – $105,000 per year, Company Car, Annual bonus, employee of the month & year recognition with rewards, long service recognition and reward program, social club.
