LIFEGUARD & AQUATICS LEAD
We are excited to invite a dedicated Lifeguard & Aquatics Lead to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Lifeguard & Aquatics Lead to work for our Families w/ Children facilities in the Bronx and Queens. As the Lifeguard & Aquatics Lead, you will oversee all camp swim operations during off-site pool visits throughout the summer. You will travel with campers to partner swimming facilities and serves as the primary liaison between camp staff and facility swim staff. The Aquatics Lead ensures all camp swim safety procedures are followed, including coordinating swim tests, conducting buddy checks, managing camper supervision, and organizing swim rotations. Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the primary point of contact between camp leadership and swim facilities.
Ensure all camp aquatic safety policies and procedures are being followed always.
Coordinate and oversee swim tests in collaboration with facility staff.
Implement and monitor buddy checks and head counts before, during, and after swim sessions.
Supervise campers in and around the pool area, maintaining appropriate safety ratios.
Understand camp safety plans and respond appropriately to incidents as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 21 years old.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Lifeguard certification required.
Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required.
Ability to work part time on weekdays between June 24th- August 21st.
Ability to travel to Bronx and Queens is a must.
Ability to pass a background check, physical exam and up to date on all required immunizations.
Childcare or day camp experience is a plus.
