Lead Implementation Engineer – Infrastructure & Field Technology

The Lead Implementation Engineer provides senior‑level technical leadership and operational oversight for Ferguson’s Branch and Facilities Technology implementations. This role is responsible for guiding team performance, shaping best practices, driving process consistency, and delivering reliable, scalable technology solutions across the field. This is an opportunity for an experienced technology professional to step into a role with high visibility, leadership impact, and influence across Ferguson’s national footprint. The Lead Implementation Engineer applies advanced technical expertise, strong communication skills, and leadership capability to mentor others, partner multi-functionally, and champion continuous improvement.

Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide hands‑on support for a team of 4–5 Implementation Engineers delivering Branch and Facilities Technology projects.

  • Serve as the senior technical resource for complex customer concerns, ensuring service excellence and SLA achievement.

  • Mentor, coach, and grow team members while delegating work effectively and promoting high performance.

  • Define and validate infrastructure requirements for facilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and strategic direction.

  • Collaborate across IT, Operations, Facilities, and Field leadership to drive successful project outcomes.

  • Develop, refine, and enforce guidelines, documentation standards, and quality assurance measures.

  • Build positive relationships across the organization to proactively identify challenges and promote effective outcomes.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure operational transparency and handoff readiness.

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.

  • Support performance management activities, including providing structured feedback and development planning.

  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings to support associate development and project execution.

  • Oversee hardware inventory forecasting to ensure technology availability aligned with project demands.

  • Manage and coordinate activities of third‑party contractors and partners.

  • Collaborate with peer teams to ensure Branch Technology receives the technical support, resources, and alignment required for success.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 4 - 6+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology , preferably in infrastructure, field services, implementation, or systems engineering roles.

  • 4+ years of experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity , demonstrating the ability to guide teams and influence outcomes at a higher level.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Strong understanding of Ferguson’s business operations (or similar large-scale distribution, retail, or multi‑site environments).

  • Advanced knowledge of technologies commonly used across enterprise IT environments.

  • Strong proficiency with ServiceNow, Oracle, Visio, and Microsoft Office.

  • Proven leadership capability including coaching, delegation, talent development, and team motivation.

  • Strong project management knowledge, with experience delivering technology projects in fast‑paced environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, solution‑focused approach.

  • Ability to mentor associates and build technical capability across the team.

  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead discussions, manage conflict, and support team decision‑making.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$8,470.59 - $14,834.37

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
