Department Summary:
The External Cloud team in Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead AWS Cloud Engineer to support the development and administration of MITRE's enterprise cloud environment in AWS. As a member of our team, you’ll build and apply hands-on expertise across the full AWS ecosystem. Our team establishes and maintains the technical foundation upon which projects can work securely in the cloud, empowering users to be self-sufficient and agile while minimizing risk to MITRE and remaining in compliance with InfoSec policy.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Define and lead development of a robust governance framework for securing AWS environments in accordance with prevailing policy
Guide the security, networking, governance, and automation of MITRE’s AWS architecture
Ensure compliance standards are maintained for MITRE’s AWS platform
Provide technical leadership and mentorship
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide advanced operational support to internal MITRE customers in AWS
Work closely with InfoSec to define secure baselines in AWS
Collaborate with other MITRE teams in pursuit of cross-domain, multi-cloud, and hybrid solutions involving AWS
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with eight years’ related experience, or a master’s degree with six years’ related experience, preferably with a technical major such as engineering, computer science, etc.
Demonstrated expertise in AWS cloud technologies and service offerings
Experience with cloud networking skills required to deploy secure cloud environments
History of performing hands-on work to solve complex technical problems
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance within one year of being hired.
Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience securing systems to one or more compliance standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53)
Experience using cloud automation tools, such as Terraform, etc.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automated build and deploy processes using tools such as GitLab, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, to include ability to effectively develop technical support documentation
Self-motivated, curious, and collaborative, with a passion to learn new technologies and develop new skills
Active DoD Secret clearance

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$144,800 - $181,000 - $217,200 Annual
