Summary The VA is seeking HR Specialist (Position Management) professionals to support enterprise transformation and strengthen organizational effectiveness. These specialists help maintain workforce integrity, ensure compliance with established requirements, and promote operational consistency. Selectees provide administrative, technical, and analytical expertise across organizational design, position classification, and data management functions, enhancing performance and supporting mission success. Responsibilities The Office of Human Resources and Administration, Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, is seeking HR Specialist (Position Management) professionals to provide dependable, cross-functional support to core HR functions. These specialists carry out analytical, administrative, and technical tasks that promote program integrity and uphold standards-based processes. Their responsibilities may include assessing organizational structures, managing position data, coordinating workflows, operating automated systems, and ensuring efficient service delivery. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who can work independently and handle a range of HR activities. Major Duties: Manages organization and position data in the HR system of record, ensuring accurate entry, updates, corrections, and reconciliations. Provides guidance and technical support to management on system-related HR issues, workflows, and organizational or procedural changes. Conducts audits to identify and resolve data discrepancies and maintains data integrity in coordination with stakeholders and Position Managers. Supports organizational design, requirements management, and position classification by reviewing structures, inventories, and related documentation. Develops concise data products that inform leadership decisions on workforce planning, organizational changes, and resource needs. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; or as negotiated. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/17/2026. This position allows an HR Specialist (Position Management) to support organizational design, classification, compliance, and data oversight through targeted analytical and technical tasks. Contribute to core HR operations, ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards, and utilize strong evaluative and organizational skills in a mission-driven environment. Provide HR support in organizational design, requirements management, position classification, and data management. Advises on organizational changes, reviews position structures, conducts audits, and prepares evaluation statements to ensure compliance with relevant policies. Managing organization and position data in the HR system of record. Inputs, updates, and corrects organizational information in accordance with established guidelines, provides guidance to management officials on system-related HR issues, and offers technical assistance with system procedures and applications. The role supports problem-solving related to workforce processes, assists with organizational or procedural changes within the automated system, and participates in audits to identify and correct data discrepancies. Producing reliable data products that support leadership decisions related to workforce planning and organizational structure. The incumbent modifies work processes in response to system or policy changes, collects and analyzes information for organizational actions, and participates in ongoing data reconciliation efforts. Ensuring accurate, consistent organizational and position data through collaboration with agency stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
