IMC Construction General Manager - Special Projects Division in United States

The General Manager – Special Projects Division serves as the senior leader of the division, responsible for setting strategy, leading teams, and delivering strong financial and operational performance.

This role is ideal for a proven construction leader who combines entrepreneurial drive, operational excellence, and strong business development capability to grow a high-performing division.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Division & Set Strategy: Provide overall leadership and direction for the Special Projects Division. You’ll establish and execute business plans that drive growth, profitability, and market expansion while aligning with IMC’s core values and long-term vision.

Own Financial & Operational Performance: Take full ownership of the division’s P&L, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You’ll manage backlog, forecasting, and resource planning to maintain strong financial performance.

Drive Business Development & Growth: Lead efforts to secure new work and expand client relationships. You’ll play a key role in pursuits, proposals, and presentations while identifying new markets and strategic opportunities to grow the division.

Build & Lead High-Performing Teams: Develop, mentor, and support team members to elevate both individual and overall team performance. Foster a culture of continuous growth through coaching, feedback, and intentional development.

Provide Executive Project Oversight: Maintain visibility across all division projects, ensuring alignment on schedule, budget, quality, and risk management. You’ll step in to support teams on complex challenges and key client issues.

Strengthen Client & Industry Relationships: Serve as a key external representative of IMC. Build strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners while representing the company in industry organizations and networking opportunities.

Champion Safety & Quality: Reinforce IMC’s “Safety First” culture across all projects. Partner with field and safety leadership to ensure compliance, while driving consistent quality and operational excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred

  • 12+ years of commercial construction experience

  • Proven experience leading multiple projects, teams, or a business unit

  • Strong background in business development and client relationship management

  • Experience managing financial performance, including P&L, forecasting, and budgeting

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate as a self-starter, identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving results.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
