Position Summary:
Set up, operate and maintain one or more special machines to perform forging, pre-forging and re-forming operations. Set up training will begin after successful completion of Machine Operator A training.
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform operations and set up on trim presses and cleaning and cooling systems
Read and interpret process prints, including math conversions for setting machines.
Use prescribed procedures, setups, and judgment to perform work in order of sequences and maintain quality
Successfully complete Machine Operator A (MOA) training class
Produce and inspect finished parts using scales, calipers, micrometers, adjustable, direct reading, and fixed gages to check work
Adjust machines or vary degree of pressure/stroke to suit type of materials, contour, and size
Check work using straight edge, contour sweep gauges, templates, and layouts
Ability to receive and retain training, instruction and work other shifts throughout progression
Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to set ups and operations within recognized procedures
This position is a progression to levels “B” and during a one-year period
Proceed on work assignments with some supervision and some assistance
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner, that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and
5-S projects.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to reach and lift to 70 pounds
Physical hazards due to lifting of product assemblies and tools
Fumes, dust, oils, and loud machinery
Extended periods of standing working in high heat and humidity
