Hargrove Engineers & Constructors Discipline Lead - Electrical Engineer in United States

What You'll Be Doing

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Lead Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to provide technical leadership and full discipline delivery for industrial projects. This role is responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and quality of all Electrical and Instrumentation deliverables while leading engineers and designers and serving as a technical authority on complex engineering assignments.

The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial E&I professional who combines hands‑on technical expertise with strong project controls, leadership, and client communication skills. A Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE) degree is required.

This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA and requires in person presence. Sorry, no remote or Hybrid schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Project Controls

  • Lead and supervise the Electrical & Instrumentation discipline, providing technical direction to engineers and designers.

  • Plan, organize, and communicate work execution strategies to project teams, leadership, and clients.

  • Delegate work based on skill and experience, providing ongoing guidance to ensure quality and efficiency.

  • Track and manage discipline budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and deliverables using established project controls.

  • Develop and validate professional services and construction estimates; monitor changes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Identify scope changes and initiate change notices impacting schedule, cost, or deliverables.

  • Support proposal development and business development efforts through estimating and technical input.

Technical Design & Engineering

  • Establish electrical and instrumentation design criteria in accordance with client requirements, project scope, and applicable codes and standards.

  • Produce estimate‑level designs, material take‑offs, conceptual layouts, and cost studies.

  • Prepare and review detailed design calculations, sketches, and specifications.

  • Design systems with a focus on constructability, cost efficiency, and long‑term reliability.

  • Develop and review medium‑voltage (up to 15kV) power systems, including single‑line diagrams and protection requirements.

  • Ensure permitting requirements are identified and communicated to the project team.

Quality, Deliverables & Coordination

  • Review, check, and approve all electrical and instrumentation deliverables.

  • Verify calculations for accuracy, NEC compliance, and engineering best practices.

  • Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines to resolve design and constructability issues.

  • Review vendor drawings and integrate electrical/instrumentation requirements.

  • Prepare bid packages and technical documentation for procurement.

People Development & Worksharing

  • Mentor and develop engineers and designers through coaching, training, and professional development initiatives.

  • Identify and manage interoffice worksharing opportunities to optimize resources and execution.

  • Promote strong communication and collaboration across distributed project teams.

Physical Requirements
