Position Summary
The Director of Global Business Development is a high-impact leadership role responsible for architecting the global growth strategy, market alignment, and go-to-market (GTM) excellence for Urban Decay. You will serve as the primary strategic link between the DMI and the global zones, ensuring that brand ambitions are translated into profitable, local market success.
This role requires a seasoned business leader who can steer a complex matrix of stakeholders—including Global Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Regional Presidents—to drive maximum brand expansion. While the Manager level focuses on tactical execution and synthesis, the Director owns the long-term business strategy, P&L health, and the development of high-performing teams to ensure Urban Decay remains a dominant force in the global beauty landscape.
Responsibilities
International Strategic Leadership
Strategic Growth Ownership: Define and drive the global expansion strategy for Urban Decay, ensuring total alignment across regions, markets, and channels to maximize top-line growth and bottom-line profitability.
DMI & Zone Advocacy: Represent high-level Zone/Country priorities at the DMI Leadership level, influencing Global Marketing, Social/PR, and Digital teams to ensure global initiatives meet local commercial realities.
Marketing Panier Architecture: Lead the multi-year business strategy for "Marketing Paniers," defining growth ambitions by region, category, and channel in direct collaboration with the Brand President and SVP of Marketing.
Executive Preparation: Drive the creation of high-stakes strategic documents, including the 3-Year Strategic Note, Zone Summit presentations, and Luxe Division Executive reviews.
O+O Strategy: Steer the Online + Offline (O+O) expansion strategy, overseeing channel optimization, assortment productivity, and high-level retail design initiatives to support global activations.
Market Development & High-Level Oversight
Portfolio Management: Oversee critical growth regions (e.g., Europe and Travel Retail), acting as the ultimate authority on promotional strategies, pricing corridors, and logistics alignment for these zones.
P&L & Business Driver Alignment: Ensure all business drivers—from local market initiatives to retail sizing—are optimized to meet brand financial targets.
Business Intelligence & Simulation
Strategic Analysis: Oversee the business analysis function, moving beyond reporting to provide executive-level synthesis on Mix of Business, Distribution health, and Pricing elasticity.
Financial Modeling: Lead business modeling simulations and predictive analysis to support annual budgeting and specific market development high-stakes projects.
Operational Governance
Global Lifecycle Management: Govern the "Add & Delete" process and DRIVE timeline implementation, ensuring cross-functional accountability for global launch readiness and portfolio health.
GBD Liaison: Act as the ultimate GBD Operational Liaison to ensure all support functions (Operations, Development, Finance) are synchronized with the brand’s strategic roadmap.
Leadership & Talent Development
People Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. You are responsible for building the next generation of GBD talent, fostering a culture of data-backed decision-making and creative problem-solving.
Stakeholder Influence: Navigate and influence at all levels of the organization, building powerful collaborative partnerships across the Luxe Division.
Experience & Authority
10-12+ years of progressive experience in global marketing or business development within the prestige beauty or consumer goods sector.
Strategic Vision: Demonstrated experience in leading a brand's global expansion and navigating complex international marketplaces.
Leadership Track Record: Proven success in leading teams and influencing senior executives in a matrixed environment.
Entrepreneurial Mastery: A high-level strategic thinker with the drive for execution and the ability to find opportunity in complexity.
Communication Excellence: Exceptional presentation skills; able to command a room and articulate a clear business vision.
