Job Title: Computer Support Specialists / Server engineer Location: Old Westbury, NY Contract role Summary

  • Manage enterprise server infrastructure, backups (Veeam), and disaster recovery across on-prem and cloud environments.

  • Administer Active Directory, Azure, and Microsoft 365 (IAM, MFA, security, licensing, user management).

  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix) including clusters, storage, networking, and patching.

  • Oversee network security tools (Zscaler), VPN/hybrid setup, endpoint patching (Automox), and system monitoring.

  • Maintain documentation, compliance, access controls, and coordinate vendor support/escalations.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Veeam Backups

  • Backup job configurations (VMs, servers, critical systems)

  • Retention policies and storage locations

  • Repository details (local, cloud, offsite)

  • Encryption settings and compliance requirements

  • Backup schedules and maintenance windows

  • Monitoring and alerting setup

  • Restore procedures (VM-level, file-level, application-level)

  • Testing schedule and past test reports

  • Licensing overview and renewal dates

  • Access permissions and admin accounts

  • Active Directory (AD)

  • Domain structure and OU design

  • Group policies in place and their purpose

  • User provisioning and deprovisioning processes

  • Service accounts and their dependencies

  • Password policies and lockout rules

  • Domain controllers: locations, roles, and health checks

  • DNS structure and dependencies

  • Replication overview and monitoring routines

  • Backup and recovery steps for AD

  • Key scripts or automation in use

  • Azure Administration

  • Subscription structure and resource groups

    Additional skills:

  • Identity and access management setup

  • Conditional access policies

  • Azure AD Connect sync configuration

  • MFA and self-service portal settings

  • Network and VPN configuration (if hybrid)

  • Azure VM and service overview

  • Monitoring and logging dashboards

  • Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Licensing assignments and plan details

  • Exchange Online setup: connectors, mail flow, retention policies

  • SharePoint/OneDrive configuration and storage limits

  • Security & Compliance Center configuration

  • DLP policies, audit logs, and eDiscovery procedures

  • Endpoint management (if using Intune)

  • Admin roles and delegated permissions

  • Support escalation process with Microsoft

  • VMware

  • vCenter and ESXi host layout

  • Cluster configuration, HA/DRS rules

  • VM naming and provisioning standards

  • Datastore layout and storage policies

  • Network configuration: vSwitches, VLANs, port groups

  • Snapshot guidelines and cleanup routines

  • Update and patching process

  • Licensing and support contract details

  • Backup integration with Veeam

  • Nutanix

  • Cluster layout and node inventory

  • Storage containers and replication settings

  • Networking configuration

  • Prism Central dashboards and monitoring setup

  • Patching and upgrade workflow
