Neuberger Berman Operations Analyst in Singapore
Summary of Role
The Neuberger Berman Singapore Middle Office team is responsible for a wide range of processes that include (but not limited too), Cash and Position Reconciliation, break resolution, trade life cycle management, broker onboarding, new product onboarding, client onboarding and any other related tasks that come up on an ad hoc basis.
The candidate needs to be able to work well independently or as a team, work under pressure and be able to prioritize based on deadlines, risk product and account location.
The position we currently have open is reconciliation based and centralize the Fixed Income / Equity cash and position reconciliation and break resolution processes in a single location, i.e. Singapore. Key roles and responsibilities of this job:
Responsibilities:
Manual booking of all required cash entries to our Portfolio management system (Aladdin). Said entries could include fees, interest, tax, STIF, client flows, etc.
Daily reconciliation of all cash transactions and balances for the previous business day and the Publishing of Tradable cash balances post reconciliation for all currencies across all Equity/Fixed Income accounts.
Assignment of breaks to the required Global Middle Office teams for review and ultimately, resolution.
Active break management by following up with the Global teams by highlight high- risk breaks, long standing issues, etc. that require urgent attention.
Ongoing monitoring for trends and issues that need attention with the view to drilldown and find practical solutions to remedy possible issues.
Timely escalation of any actual or potential issues that could cause financial, regulatory or reputational issues.
Prompt query handling and resolution of any issues raised by the FO or support teams.
Daily position reconciliation of all Equity/Fixed Income accounts within our Portfolio Management system (Aladdin).
Assignment and active follow up of any position breaks to the Global MO teams.
Ongoing Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) to ensure process and controls are always working to the best ability.
EOD reporting as required for Cash and Position Reconciliations.
Active Custodian engagement and management on BAU. This includes custody service levels, Swift message quality, etc.
Products include Fixed Income, FX and Bank Loans so an understanding of these products is key.
Assist in account onboarding by ensuring Aladdin is ready to commence day 1 operations and the custody swifts messaging are all mapped and ready.
Daily positions reconciliations vs Neuberger Berman’s internal accounting systems
Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and programming languages (i.e. Python) is preferred
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in any field — a background in Finance, Accounting, or Business is a bonus, but not a must
3–5 years of experience in operations, ideally within asset management or financial services — we value the skills you've built along the way!
A natural curiosity and willingness to develop a solid understanding of financial products, systems, trading strategies, and the unique needs of our clients
Great communication skills — you're comfortable connecting with a wide range of people, from Portfolio Managers and Traders to Custodian Banks and Trustees, both in writing and in conversation
A sharp eye for detail and the ability to stay calm and focused when things get busy
A team player at heart, who also takes pride in the quality and accuracy of their own work
Organised, analytical, and resourceful — you enjoy solving problems and know how to prioritise when deadlines are tight
Someone who takes initiative, spots opportunities for improvement, and isn't afraid to speak up with ideas
Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills (think formulas, macros, pivot tables — the good stuff!)
Exposure to tools like Bloomberg, Geneva, or Power BI is a welcome plus
Aladdin and Programming experience preferred
