The Data Experience Team owns and operates systems that are used across Akamai for log delivery, analytics, reporting and alerting. These systems currently receive over 7PB/day of data and process over 5 trillion records per day. Our code helps to run one of the largest distributed systems in the world.
As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and make contributions through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for trainings, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open for students and graduates.

Our team is collaborative, inclusive, and creative. We develop applications and services to empower our customers. In this role, you'll work closely with developers to design, develop and test our new applications and services that will turn into Akamai future products.
As a Contingent Worker Intern, you will be responsible for:
Working as a part of Agile team in SCRUM methodology, being active team member
Designing, developing and testing web based applications and services which will be utilized by Akamai customers and internal systems
Working with internal & external stakeholders
Contributing to internal research processes, methodologies, and approaches to create and share best practices
Learning about our distributed systems, products, and technical stack necessary for your role
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Be a student in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or another related field
Be familiar with Java or other JVM-based programming language
Know Web technologies and frameworks like Spring
Know basics of relational databases and SQL queries syntax
Know basic knowledge of JS, HTML and CSS
Understand networking protocols (such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL)
Write tests for developed functionalities

Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).
This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised). We are happy to discuss working options in this role and encourage you to speak with your recruiter in more details when you apply.
