Oracle Senior Data Center Technician in Malaysia

As a Senior Oracle Data Center Technician , you’ll play a lead hands-on role supporting a production data center environment in Johor Bahru (Iskandar area) . You will own more complex break/fix and installation work, help ensure network/cabling standards are met, and drive operational excellence through strong troubleshooting, documentation, and adherence to safety and security controls. You’ll also act as a technical liaison for internal stakeholders, coach junior technicians, and contribute to process improvements that increase reliability and reduce recurring incidents.
This is an onsite role supporting a rotating shift model
Requirements
4+ years of experience working in a data center environment (colocation, hyperscaler, enterprise DC, or equivalent critical environment role).
Strong hands-on expertise in server hardware installation, upgrades, and break/fix , including troubleshooting without impacting critical infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience with structured cabling and network build/connectivity validation (fiber/copper patching, labeling, testing).
Comfortable with Linux fundamentals (system logs/CLI basics; ability to validate connectivity/health checks).
Experience managing/triaging incident and ticket queues , diagnosing non-routine issues, and escalating appropriately.
Strong discipline in SOP/MOP adherence , change control, security controls, and site compliance expectations.
Confident communicator who can work effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors; able to operate independently on shift.
Comfortable working rotating shifts in an onsite operations environment
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end onsite hardware installation, replacement, upgrades, and break/fix while ensuring no disruption to critical operations.
Execute advanced troubleshooting by reviewing tickets, system logs, console/alarm messages , and implementing solutions within defined SLAs; document actions and resolutions.
Perform and validate network/cabling work : implement defined cabling/network changes, verify connectivity, and resolve link/connection issues (fiber/copper).
Maintain high standards for safety, security, and compliance , including PPE usage, access controls, and adherence to site/colocation rules.
Support inventory accuracy, audit readiness, and parts/spares controls , ensuring proper tracking and documentation.
Drive continuous improvement : identify recurring issues/trends, propose corrective actions, and engage relevant teams to reduce repeat incidents.
Provide guidance and coaching to junior technicians; contribute to training and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and, where applicable, coordinate with colocation/vendor teams to ensure service quality and SLA adherence.
Operate smoothly in a multi-disciplinary team environment, ensuring effective handovers and frictionless execution.
