BlackBox Residential Technician in Japan

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Installation & Maintenance

  • Install, terminate, test, and label copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling systems in residential, office, and data center environments.

  • Execute rack and stack activities, including the physical installation of servers, network switches, routers, and related IT equipment.

  • Perform hardware refresh, structured cabling upgrades, and patching activities as part of ongoing support and service improvement.

  • Conduct troubleshooting and fault isolation on structured cabling and network connectivity issues.

  • Perform site surveys, create accurate as-built documentation, and ensure compliance with cabling and electrical standards (EIA/TIA, ISO/IEC).

  • Coordination & Project Support

  • Coordinate with data center operations, project managers, and service delivery teams to ensure project milestones and SLAs are met.

  • Liaise with financial institution clients to schedule maintenance windows, minimize downtime, and align work with operational and security requirements.

  • Manage work orders, track materials, and maintain accurate service records for audit and compliance purposes.

  • Support logistics for equipment delivery, cabling inventory, and site readiness.

  • Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all work complies with financial institution security protocols and change management procedures.

  • Adhere to data center access policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices during all installations.

  • Maintain high standards of documentation accuracy for auditing and regulatory reporting.

  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and operational discipline in all work environments.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Diploma or certification in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

    • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling, hardware installation, and field coordination in data center or technical environments.

    • Experience supporting financial services or banking institutions, with familiarity in regulated and secure operational environments.

    • Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards (EIA/TIA-568, 606, 607) and data center infrastructure practices.

    • Skilled in using network cable testers, OTDR, and Fluke certification tools.

    • Understanding of LAN/WAN fundamentals, network topology, and IP-based systems.

    • Excellent coordination, communication, and client engagement skills.

    • Physically fit to handle cabling, lifting, and confined-space work.

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites and data centers.

    Preferred Certifications (Optional):

    • BICSI Technician or Installer Certification

    • Fiber Optic Association (FOA) or equivalent

    • CompTIA Network

  • • Data Center Cabling Specialist (DCCS) or similar credential

    • Workplace Safety / OSHA Certification

    Work Environment:

    • Split between customer residential sites and secure data center environments.

    • Frequent interaction with banking and financial institution clients requiring professionalism and confidentiality.

    • Occasional after-hours or weekend work to accommodate financial system maintenance windows.

    • Involves travel between client sites, residential locations, and data centers.
