What You’ll Do
We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer with deep cloud platform expertise to lead architecture and technical direction for next generation provisioning and orchestration systems powering Teradata compute across public cloud environments.
This role focuses on defining cross platform architecture, driving technical strategy, and guiding multiple engineering teams building large scale cloud infrastructure systems.
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will influence platform architecture across teams, drive long term engineering direction, and partner with engineering leadership to shape the future of Teradata’s cloud platform capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Define and lead architecture for core cloud platform capabilities supporting provisioning, lifecycle management, and runtime operations of distributed compute infrastructure
Drive cross platform architecture strategy across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments
Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams building platform services and infrastructure systems
Define long term architecture roadmaps for cloud platform capabilities including provisioning systems, orchestration frameworks, and infrastructure automation
Establish architecture patterns, engineering standards, and best practices for scalable cloud platform systems
Lead design and review of large-scale distributed systems supporting multi cloud deployments
Partner with platform, networking, security, and cloud infrastructure teams to design reliable and secure cloud architectures
Drive improvements in scalability, reliability, operational efficiency, and developer productivity across the platform
Mentor senior and staff engineers and help raise the technical bar across the engineering organization
Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align architecture decisions with long term platform strategy
Who You’ll Work With
This position is for a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Platform Services team within the Vantage Core Platform Software organization.
The team builds core cloud platform services that power provisioning, lifecycle management, and runtime operations of Teradata compute infrastructure across public cloud environments.
Our platform enables Teradata deployments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and focuses on building highly reliable, scalable, and automated infrastructure services used by multiple engineering teams and enterprise customers.
Key areas of focus include:
Cloud native provisioning and lifecycle automation for distributed compute environments
Platform services for orchestration, scaling, and configuration management across public cloud platforms
Serverless and event driven automation frameworks for infrastructure workflows
Secure and reliable connectivity enablement for cloud deployed compute systems
What Makes You a Qualified Candidate
(Non-negotiable qualifications)
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 12+ years of work experience
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of work experience
Deep hands-on experience building and operating systems on at least one major public cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Strong programming expertise in Python or similar languages used for infrastructure and platform engineering
Extensive experience designing large scale cloud native platforms or distributed infrastructure systems
Experience defining architecture used across multiple engineering teams or platform capabilities
Strong understanding of multi cloud architecture, cloud networking, IAM, service quotas, and multi region deployments
Experience designing infrastructure automation and provisioning systems using cloud APIs, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code tools
Experience building event driven or serverless platform architectures
Strong experience designing highly scalable distributed systems
Proven ability to influence architecture decisions across teams and drive engineering alignment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
