Role Overview:
As an Engineer II (Data Solutions & Governance) in Global Technology Solutions, you’ll provide Districts and Customers with exceptional data analytics for planning, root cause analysis and process improvement activities that accelerate Expeditors’ business. This position is a broad-spectrum analytics role responsible for leveraging all available data and has a wide range of responsibilities including collection, cleansing, analysis, reporting, interpretation and presentation of data.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, develop and deploy impactful data-driven solutions for our Districts and Customers
Adhere to a defined analytics development procedure and fully document solutions
Participate in project requirements gathering and solution design
Complete projects on-time and provide frequent progress updates to project stakeholders
Prepare, cleanse and augment data in preparation for analysis and usage
Develop meaningful and intuitive reports, summaries and dashboards
Provide support for data and reporting infrastructure
Leverage advanced analytics tools and techniques to extract insights from data
Share solutions and collaborate with other analysts in the network
Manage projects, tasks, time and timelines within our standard project management tools
Support our District as a subject matter expert on our data, tools and environments
Ensure solutions are built to scale and use enterprise approved technologies.
AI‑Assisted Development and Modern Engineering Practices
Use AI‑assisted development tools to improve query efficiency and quality.
Prompt effectively and validate AI‑generated output for correctness, maintainability, and alignment with standards.
Apply AI‑assisted workflows to day‑to‑day tasks such as query optimization, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Understand governance considerations (data security, data privacy) in an enterprise environment.
What you Bring:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas and pivot tables)
Advanced proficiency in structured and unstructured data (SQL, No-SQL, JSON, XML)
Experience with various business intelligence platforms (Tableau, MSSQL Reporting Services, Power BI)
Knowledge in python
Fluency in schema and table design
Knowledge of data security policies
Ability to clearly communicate and present to small and large groups
Being a team player and could listen, comprehend and effectively communicate to obtain positive results
Customer service oriented, with strong collaboration, communication and time-management skills
Preferred Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent practical experience).
Knowledge in Kafka
Experience with Microsoft Fabric
Good understanding of logistics operations
