Made up of six dynamic business units, APP is at the forefront of industrial and next-generation automotive trends. You will be joining the BSR-LV product line which is located in Freising, Germany and is working in the fields of inductive DCDC converters. We focus on fully integrated buck converters in the low voltage area (<7V), supporting a broad range of applications requiring ultra-low load currents as well as up to even 100A. Join us for the opportunity to create innovative and compelling products for customers that then help create a better world.
About the Job
The BSR LV product line is seeking for a highly motivated IC Layout Engineer with first experience in the semiconductor world. As a member of an experienced design and layout team you will be part of developing innovative analog and mixed signal integrated circuits in leading edge technologies. Your primary activities will include: cell/top-level floor-planning, layout and verification in a Cadence Virtuoso design environment. Layout area and schedule estimation are also a key part of the overall responsibilities for this position. Layout designer will be responsible to make sure that chip/block level layouts meet all design, mask & fab manufacturing requirements.
As a layout engineer in our team you will gain or further enhance your in-depth knowledge of semiconductor circuit layout including layout optimization techniques necessary for meeting device matching, placement and routing constraints.
Example products we have built are TPS62870, TPS62840, TPS62A01, TPS62810
As an IC Layout Engineer, the key responsibilities are the following but not limited to:
Layout generation for high-efficiency, cost-sensitive, competitive low-power DC/DC buck switched converters in the personal electronics, industrial and automotive market
Apart from block- and top-level layout generation this includes the following tasks:
Size optimized floor planning including pinout
Power transistor layout (including electromigration checks)
Accurate die size estimation
Process aware layout (well-proximity effect, length of diffusion)
Floorplan integration into IC lead frame
Parasitic aware layout (coupling, lead resistance)
Running Design Rule Checks and Layout vs. Schematic verification
Execution of tape out process
Close cooperation with the onsite analog design team as well as offsite program execution and packaging in order to guarantee flawless execution on product development schedules
Participate in design reviews and create the necessary layout documentation
