UL, LLC Electrical Engineer – Projects & Certification in Colombia
Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from scope definition through execution and certification.
Define project scope, timelines, costs, and sample requirements based on client input, product design, and applicable standards.
Apply and interpret international electrical standards and certifications, including UL, IEC, CB Scheme, ASTM, and NEMA.
Evaluate and certify electrical equipment such as:
Electrical panels and switchboards
Switchgear, panelboards, and industrial control panels
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
Transformers, motors, circuit breakers, and electrical protections
Establish and oversee electrical, mechanical, material, and physicochemical testing programs.
Coordinate laboratory activities, including:
Preparing test plans and instructions
Scheduling and reviewing work performed by technicians and engineering staff
Monitoring deliverables and completion dates
Communicate directly with clients to:
Explain certification processes and technical requirements
Discuss test results, compliance gaps, costs, and schedules
Resolve technical and project-related issues
Review test results and identify non‑conformities, scope changes, and corrective actions.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and Follow‑Up Service Procedures.
Resolve engineering issues related to design variations and change notices.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in quality, productivity, and project execution.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers or technical staff.
Represent the organization at industry events, audits, seminars, and trade shows, as needed.
Travel occasionally to client sites or laboratories to conduct or witness testing.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial, energy, or automation environments.
Strong knowledge of:
Electrical and electronic systems used in industrial applications
Electrical panels, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, motors, and protection devices
Experience working with international standards and certification frameworks (UL, IEC, CB Scheme, ASTM, NEMA).
Experience managing electrical projects, including planning, execution, and coordination.
Experience in team leadership or personnel management.
Strong understanding of quality, certification, implementation, and electrical system development processes.
English proficiency (spoken and written) – minimum 80%.
