Mars Quality Control Verifier (Destination Inspection) in China
The Quality Control Verifier is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of inbound containerized cargo upon arrival in China. This role ensures that products arrive in the expected condition, meet company quality standards, and comply with customer and regulatory requirements. The position provides critical visibility into cargo condition, supports claims and supplier management, and protects inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Container & Cargo Inspection
Inspect external container condition upon arrival and verify seal integrity.
Document seal numbers and identify signs of tampering, damage, or contamination.
Inspect internal container condition and evaluate cargo upon unloading, checking for:
Pin holes in bags
Small and large bag tears
Bag seal integrity (open, compromised, or improperly sealed bags)
Physical damage or crushing
Moisture, condensation, or water ingress
Mold, infestation, or contamination
Shifting, collapse, improper stacking, or inadequate bracing
Packaging or labeling discrepancies
Confirm cargo quantity and product integrity against packing lists and shipment documentation.
2. Evidence Collection & Documentation
Complete inspection reports, deviation logs, and damage assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
Capture detailed photo and video evidence, especially showing:
Pin holes
Bag tears (small and large)
Damaged or compromised seals
Container interior issues
Maintain organized, traceable digital records for internal and external reporting.
3. Communication & Escalation
Immediately escalate critical issues: damaged goods, missing items, compromised bag integrity, seal irregularities, contamination to logistics, quality, and customer experience teams.
Coordinate with warehouse staff, carriers, customs brokers, and other partners during devanning.
Support root-cause investigations and corrective action follow-ups.
4. Compliance & Safety
Ensure inspections follow SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Adhere to safety protocols while working inside containers and around warehouse equipment.
Identify recurring issues and contribute to recommendations for preventive measures and process improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, Business, or related field.
2+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, quality control, or freight operations.
Strong observational skills with the ability to identify packaging defects, especially pin holes, tears, and sealing issues.
Ability to work in warehouse environments and participate in container unloading inspections.
Strong communication skills.
Competence in report writing and basic data interpretation.
Preferred
Experience in destination inspections, international shipping, or containerized cargo handling.
Knowledge of packaging standards and standard bag integrity requirements.
Familiarity with continuous improvement or root-cause analysis.
