UL, LLC Business Development Manager - Renewable Advisory in China

We are looking for a highly analytical Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth. This is not a traditional sales role. You will not be cold-calling; instead, you will be the "architect" of our commercial strategy. You will conduct deep research into the market and our top-tier accounts to identify high-value opportunities, then build the tactical roadmaps that our sales teams will execute.

  1. Strategic Market Intelligence & Research
  • Account Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research into our Top 50 key accounts. Understand their technical needs, project pipelines, and pain points.

  • Opportunity Identification: Pinpoint critical opportunities where UL Solutions’ advisory services can provide the most value.

  • Tactical Handover: Move beyond high-level strategy to create specific, actionable tactics. You will hand these "execution playbooks" to the sales team to ensure they have exactly what they need to close deals.

  1. Market Modeling & Gap Analysis
  • Data Analysis: Use Excel to analyze market data, focusing on wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) capacities across the region.

  • Service Innovation: Identify service gaps, what are competitors offering that we aren't? Where is the market moving?

  • Business Case Development: Run profit and cost models to validate new business opportunities and present these findings directly to regional leadership.

  1. Technical Communication & Travel
  • Concise Presentation: Translate complex data and math into short, clear, and explainable presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Market Grounding: Travel (15–20%) with the sales team and Head of Asia Pacific to stay connected to the real-world challenges our customers face.

  • Language (Must-Have): Absolute fluency in English and Chinese. You must be able to write and speak professionally in both languages to bridge our local and international teams.

  • Technical Background: An Engineering degree is highly preferred. You need to understand the "how" and "why" behind renewable energy technology to be effective.

  • Quantitative Skills: You are "good at math" and love data. Expert-level Excel skills are required for financial modeling and data analysis.

  • Global Mindset: International exposure (work or study) is highly valued. You should be comfortable navigating different business cultures.

  • Analytical Background: A background in Business or Finance is a strong plus, especially regarding profit/loss modeling.
