Senior Project Controls Engineer

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Role Overview

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Project Controls Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will play a critical role in maintaining the budgets, schedules, and overall project controls of various projects under a multi-billion dollar programme.

What You'll Be Doing

Cost Management & Budget Control

  • Budget Maintenance: Monitor and maintain project budgets, ensuring that all financial activities align with project goals, constraints, and approved baselines.

  • Monthly Cost Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly cost reports, incorporating data from supervision consultants and contractors. Ensure reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Forecast Cashflows: Develop and prepare accurate forecast cashflows from construction programmes to support project financial planning and management.

  • Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to ensure projects stay within budget. Identify and address variances between actual and budgeted costs and recommend corrective actions.

  • Budget Overrun Management: Identify potential budget overruns early and liaise with clients to obtain budget uplift approvals when necessary.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze cost data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Use this data to inform decision-making and project planning.

  • Financial Reporting: Provide detailed financial reports to senior management and other stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and project performance.

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Planning, Scheduling & Project Controls

  • Baseline Programme Development: Support the development, review, and integration of baseline schedules for design and construction using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project scope, budgets, and milestones.

  • Schedule Monitoring: Track progress against the approved baseline schedule, identify variances, and prepare periodic schedule performance reports.

  • Progress Measurement: Coordinate with project teams, supervision consultants, and contractors to collect progress data, validate reported progress, and update the project schedule accordingly.

  • Delay & Impact Analysis: Assist in the identification and analysis of schedule delays, risks, and opportunities, and contribute to the preparation of time impact analyses and mitigation plans.

  • Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and maintain project controls dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders, summarizing cost, schedule, risk, and forecast status.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost engineering and project controls, preferably within the engineering or infrastructure sector.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in cost management software and tools.

  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 for planning and scheduling.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, dashboards).

  • Familiarity with earned value management concepts and project controls methodologies is an advantage.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and schedule data and translate it into actionable insights.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present cost and schedule information clearly to non-financial and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
