Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description
We are seeking skilled heavy equipment operators to join our team for construction projects in Suffolk. The role involves site preparation, grading, roadway construction, and installation of storm water lines and erosion control systems.
Responsibilities
Operate dozers and other heavy equipment for site preparation and grading.
Perform roadway construction and ensure land leveling.
Install storm water lines and erosion control systems.
Lay pipes accurately and efficiently.
Work effectively in small crews and perform labor as required.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, front end loaders, and backhoes.
Experience with fine and rough grading.
Knowledge of earthworks and construction practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with a variety of heavy equipment including motor graders, mini excavators, skid steers, and dump trucks.
Willingness to work on Eastern Shore occasionally.
Ability to work 40-50 hours per week, including some Saturdays.

Work Environment
The work schedule typically consists of 5x10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with some Saturday shifts expected. Work will be conducted in small crews on-site, and employees are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and reflective gear. The role requires compliance with base access requirements, including having a DBIDS in hand.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
