Role Overview:

  • Transport disabled or inoperable trucks from job sites to the district shop and deliver vehicles from the shop to outside vendors. Load inoperable units onto the lowboy trailer, requiring a minimum of two personnel for safe operation.

  • Manage the pickup and return of all equipment rented from the Greenfield District Central Yard. Utilize a second employee as a safety spotter for larger or heavy equipment.

  • Coordinate the movement and retrieval of district equipment to support subdistricts in completing their annual work plans. Due to the volume of active projects, operations may require the use of two lowboy units simultaneously.

  • Handle the pickup and return of rental equipment from outside vendors, ranging from heavy excavators to small tools such as concrete saws.

  • Clean and maintain district fleet pool vehicles, including exterior washing, vacuuming, trash removal, and interior window cleaning.

  • Assist district operators with transporting chip‑and‑seal equipment and supporting spot‑paving operations, along with performing additional tasks throughout the district as assigned.

  • Perform visual and physical inspections of INDOT‑owned assets to evaluate maintenance needs and assign condition ratings.

    Pay Rate

    This position starts at an hourly rate of $16.24.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
