Rocket Software Junior AI Engineer in Vilnius, Lithuania

Job Description Summary:

Join our AI Team in Vilnius as a Junior AI Engineer . This is an AI engineering role focused on research, experiments, and proof of concepts that support Uniface AI enablement and modernization . You’ll work closely with the team, participate in Agile sprints, and contribute to AI prototyping, experimentation with model capabilities, evaluation of AI generated outputs, and integrating outcomes into our development workflows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• AI Prototyping

Support the team by exploring different AI approaches, running experiments, building small proof of concepts, and sharing findings during standups. Work on early-stage ideas that lead to production-ready features.

• Guided AI Integration Work

Work under the direction of senior team members to test AI-generated outputs, identify edge cases, and assist in improving reliability through feedback loops. Learn the basics of working with AI models, prompting, and evaluation.

• Collaboration & Learning

Participate in daily standups, sprint activities, and collaborative discussions. Work closely with senior engineers, product, and design partners to understand requirements and approaches. Learn low code/enterprise frameworks and gradually contribute to delivery. Be proactive in seeking feedback, asking questions, and growing your skills across AI-assisted development.

What This Role Focuses On

  • Using existing LLMs (APIs, local models, tools)

  • Building POCs, prototypes, and experiments

  • Infusing AI into legacy applications in a reliable way

  • Applied AI engineering work, not ML research

This role does not involve or require data science, machine learning, training, or finetuning LLM’s.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.

  • 0–2 years of software engineering experience (internships and significant academic or personal projects count).

  • Foundational programming skills in at least one language and understanding of OOP and logicalproblem-solvingprinciples.

  • Strong knowledge of Python, either academic or professional experience.

  • Interest inAIassisteddevelopment, including basic exposure to LLM concepts(APIs, prompting fundamentals, retrieval concepts, evaluations).

  • Basic knowledge of Git, testing concepts, and clear documentation practices.

  • Strong communication, proactivity, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a highly autonomous,research-orientedenvironment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • C/C++,JavaScript.

  • Experience with databases and SQL.

  • Familiarity withlow code/enterprise concepts (Uniface is a plus).

  • Experienceparticipatingin Agile/SCRUM ceremonies.

The base salary range for this role is €25,500.00 - €43,350.00 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
