Trumbull Sanitary Engineer's Project Engineer 1 in Vienna, Ohio
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, assists the Chief Project Engineer in the technical operation of the engineering section by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
40% Provides fundamental engineering expertise in preparation and review of engineering drawings, plans, easements and specifications; resolves discrepancies as required; completes moderately complex engineering computations. Assist in the planning, reviewing and overseeing of the sewer and water extensions being proposed. Works with the Sanitary Engineer in obtaining grants, procuring consultant engineering services, and coordinating public hearings and ground breaking ceremonies.
45% Researches taxpayers' petitions (e.g. petition lists, tax maps and percentage of frontage). Assist in issuing sanitary sewer and water permits to contractors; answers inquiries as to availability of water and sewer lines within a specific location (e.g., townships, villages, etc.); determines and researches cost of water and sewer assessments (e.g., determination of costs, tax duplication record, property valuation, engineering drawings, deed records, easements, etc); maintains time records; logs reports on various aspects of projects. Assist in the management of the construction of water and sanitary sewer to include inspection and working with the OEPA on permits to install and other government agencies as needed.
10% Assist the Chief Design Engineer with necessary field survey work. May perform necessary field work related to water and sewer projects.
5% Attends meetings, researches records and assists the Chief Project Engineer and Sanitary Engineer as necessary.

*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in civil engineering or related field from four-year college or university. Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License.
*NECESSARY COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: * Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. In addition, working knowledge of Auto Cad (current release) is imperative.
*LANGUAGE SKILLS: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply Civil Engineering Principals and Practices.
*REASONING ABILITY: * Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
