CNC Setup & Operator

Description

Primary Function and Scope:

Sets up and operates CNC machines to fabricate parts within desired specifications of a work order.

Essential Functions

· Read blueprints, Work Instructions, machine manuals, to determine and perform setup on CNC machines.

· Set up tools and holders.

· Set up vises and fixtures in the machine.

· Machine soft jaws and fixtures.

· Pick up and set Work Piece Coordinates

· Start the first part on repeat jobs.

· Create tool offsets to adjust machine.

· Inspect completed parts using metrology equipment.

· Fill out required inspection and production reports.

· Oversee work of other CNC Operators as assigned.

· Perform assigned preventive maintenance duties.

· Run production parts as required.

· Deburr parts before moving to the next operation or completion.

Other Duties

· Performs any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations.

· Keeps work area clean.

· Observe safety procedures.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· 2 years experience as a CNC Set up person combined with 2 previous years working as an operator.

· Related Vocational or Associates Degree in CNC machining is preferred.

· Experience with MasterCam programing software is a benefit

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Ability to work with machine controls and perform at machine simple edits.

· Ability to manually input and run G and M codes

· Proficiency with tooling and fixtures setup

· Ability to read and interpret blueprint, calculate figures, apply concepts of basic algebra

· Ability to establish tool length and fixtures offsets

· Ability to run CNC programs in single block mode, and perform machine edits

· Good communication skills required

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures.

· Ability to write reports.

Salary Description

$22.00 - $30.00/hr
