JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Elementary General Education Teacher - Short Term Substitute
Beginning 3/26/26 for 12 weeks
Job Description: To facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting student progress and by creating a culturally inviting, flexible, safe and optimal learning environment.
Qualifications:
Hold valid New York State School teaching certificate as an Elementary Teacher
Knowledge of elementary school curriculum
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parent(s) guardian (s)
Ability to engage in self-evaluation and to incorporate insights gleaned from professional development into practice
Ability to gather and analyze data to develop action plans
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Ability to effectively utilize technology
Ability to engage culturally diverse students
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
Responsibilities:
Promote a classroom environment that is culturally diverse, safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
Administer elementary curriculum consistent with District goals and objectives
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with NYS Standards
Engage in professional learning to stay abreast of current developments in the educational field
Organize and maintain an effective system for maintaining accurate records for grading and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
Foster positive home school connections with families and encourage parent/guardian involvement
Establish and maintain standards of students behavior in the classroom
Work collaboratively with all staff members
Select appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment
Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Administrator and other district office administrators
Terms of Employment:
The position of General Education Teacher is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers\' Association.
Evaluation: Per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers\' Association.
Reports to: Building Principal
Salary:Minimum starting salary $225/day as per the Victor Teachers\' Association agreement. The VTA contract can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
