Description
We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in Grayslake, Illinois in a Contract to Permanent role. This position supports core accounting operations in a fast-paced environment and works closely with financial leadership to maintain accurate records, strengthen reporting, and support month-end and year-end activities. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound judgment in applying accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working onsite five days per week.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Controller to support daily accounting operations and contribute to the broader objectives of the finance function.
• Examine general ledger activity for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company accounting standards.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries to support timely and reliable monthly close activities.
• Complete monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and bank statements to maintain accurate financial reporting.
• Track fixed assets, maintain asset records, and calculate depreciation in accordance with established accounting practices.
• Evaluate monthly revenue and expense activity to confirm transactions are recorded in the proper period and classification.
• Produce commission calculations and reconcile employee expense submissions against corporate card statements.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide documentation needed to support an efficient audit process.
• Support budgeting activities by helping develop annual plans and analyzing actual results against budget throughout the year.
• Review customer credit information and trade references to help establish appropriate credit terms and limits for new accounts.
Requirements • Hands-on experience in accounting roles with responsibility for general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and segregation of duties within a structured accounting environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Windows-based business applications used for accounting and reporting.
• Background in manufacturing accounting, including familiarity with operational workflows that affect financial reporting.
• Experience handling intercompany transactions, account analysis, and budget support activities.
• Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy, organization, and deadline management.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
• Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense reconciliation processes.
