Uintah Special Service District 1 Facility Custodian at Recreation Center in VERNAL, Utah
Schedule: 5-hour shift-up to 29.5 hrs/week
Position Location: Recreation Center - 610 S Vernal Avenue - Vernal UT 84078
Hours of Facility Operation: 5AM - 9:30PM Shifts: Night shift
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Facility Custodian helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons, staff, and visitors at the Uintah Recreation Center. This position performs a variety of custodial duties to ensure all areas of the facility meet high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Gather and empty trash throughout the facility.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and shampoo carpets; strip, seal, and wax floors as scheduled.
Clean and restock restrooms and locker rooms.
Clean spills and other hazards using proper protective equipment and cleaning products.
Wash windows, walls, mirrors, and handrails.
Sanitize fitness equipment and other high-touch surfaces.
Notify management when supplies or repairs are needed.
Shovel snow and apply de-icer to sidewalks and walkways as needed.
Communicate courteously and work cooperatively with patrons, co-workers, and supervisors.
Perform other related custodial duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to learn and safely perform custodial tasks with limited supervision.
Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and safe chemical handling.
Familiarity with custodial tools such as vacuums, buffers, and mops.
Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to interact professionally with the public and staff.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Other Requirements:
Must pass a background screen.
Must pass a drug screen.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled recreation facility, with occasional outdoor tasks such as snow removal. The position involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and using cleaning tools and equipment. Must be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds safely. Typical industrial cleaning products are used throughout the facility.
