Job Description/Responsibilities
The Supervisor - Marine Operations and Cable Installation oversees offshore and shipboard operations related to marine cable installation, vessel-based construction activities, and associated lifting and welding tasks. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining cable handling and related equipment, supervising field crews, ensuring safe and efficient installation of submarine or marine cables, coordinating vessel deck operations, and maintaining compliance with maritime safety and operational standards. The supervisor provides technical leadership for crane operations, welding activities, and the operation of specialized cable installation equipment aboard vessels. The supervisor also provides non-operational maintenance, training, and support for deck handling equipment.
While this position requires physical location in Ventura County CA and reports directly to the Seabed and Subsea Warfare Solutions Division in Ventura CA., significant amount of work is to be conducted at the customer's facility in Port Hueneme CA requiring multiple days of continues on-site participation. There is also an expectation of periodic shipboard work that may extend to several weeks at a time. Total travel time is estimated to be approximately 25%.
Essential Functions, Supervisor - Marine Operations and Cable Installation:
Operational Supervision
Supervise daily marine operations related to cable installation, repair, and maintenance.
Coordinate vessel deck activities including cable deployment, recovery, and routing operations.
Direct installation crews and ensure work is performed according to engineering drawings, procedures, and project specifications.
Plan and sequence cable installation activities to ensure efficiency and minimize vessel downtime.
Manage logistics associated with equipment, vessels, repairs, inventory, maintenance, shipping and receiving, planning for loading and unloading dock facilities in other ports.
Liaison with the vessel operator on required operations and maintenance needs.
Monitor and coordinate equipment certification inspections with external and internal customers.
Work with internal buyer to assist in the purchasing of supplies.
Reconcile POs with proper goods and services received to ensure proper invoice approval.
Develop maintenance and repair cost analysis sheets and monitor the budget.
Assist in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for equipment.
Conduct on-site surveys of equipment to determine maintenance and repair needs.
Assist with updating the planned maintenance system with various changes to equipment.
Participate in the development, design, and fabrication of custom subsea equipment.
