Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer - Delhi, Bangalore
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in India. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, testing, and optimization of switched-mode power supply (SMPS) solutions across a variety of industrial, commercial, and consumer applications.
The ideal candidate brings strong theoretical foundations in power electronics combined with hands-on bench experience, and is capable of taking designs from concept through to mass production. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering to deliver robust, efficient, and cost-effective power solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Development
Lead the design and development of AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS across multiple topologies including Flyback, Buck, Buck-Boost, PFC, and LLC resonant converters.
Design and optimize magnetic components including transformers, inductors, and coupled inductors for SMPS applications.
Develop detailed schematic designs, component specifications, and design documentation in accordance with engineering standards.
Perform power loss analysis, thermal management design, and efficiency optimization across load profiles.
Ensure EMC/EMI compliance through filter design and layout guidance.
Testing & Verification
Conduct comprehensive bench testing including load regulation, line regulation, transient response, efficiency curves, and thermal characterization.
Develop and execute test plans, test procedures, and validation protocols for new power supply designs.
Perform root cause analysis on design failures and implement corrective actions.
Support design verification and validation (DVT/EVT) activities through production ramp.
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to ensure best practices for high-frequency power electronics layout.
Partner with firmware/embedded teams on digital control loop implementation and power sequencing.
Maintain comprehensive design documentation including BOMs, schematics, test reports, and design review packages.
Contribute to design reviews (PDR/CDR) and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong foundational knowledge of SMPS with proven hands-on experience in AC/DC power supply design.
Demonstrated proficiency in Flyback, Buck, Buck-Boost, PFC (Power Factor Correction), and LLC resonant converter topologies.
Sound understanding of control loop theory, feedback compensation, and stability analysis (Bode plots, phase/gain margin).
Proven end-to-end experience in AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS design, testing, and analysis.
Ability to take a design from initial specifications through schematic capture, prototype build, bench testing, and design sign-off.
Experience with power supply testing equipment including electronic loads, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
Proficiency in designing magnetic components including power transformers and inductors.
Capable of performing transformer design calculations: turns ratio, core selection, air gap, winding configuration, and loss analysis.
