Position Summary
As a Technology Engineer – Global CQS Auto Care R&D, you will improve via cost and performance existing auto care appearance products by collaborating with cross functional partners including marketing, procurement, operations, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading technical projects.
The position, based in Dayton, Ohio, is a part of Energizer’s Auto Care business, a customer-focused, innovation-oriented, fast growing consumer packaged goods company. Energizer is passionate about making time in the car more enjoyable with market-leading brands of car air fresheners, cleaning, and conditioning products.
Responsibilities
The position supports existing automotive brands by improving the cost and performance of existing products and supporting onsite manufacturing related to blending. Specific accountabilities include:
Lead cost, quality, supply projects related to appearance products, working with internal cross functional team members to collaborate and execute projects.
Contribute innovative ideas leading to the development and application of new technologies and solving consumer application related challenges
Plan, execute, analyze and summarize plant trials working closely with Manufacturing, engineering, and production technical resources
Define and conduct development testing to ensure readiness for production, distribution, customer and consumer fit for use
Ensure product meets relevant national, international and industry standards.
Develop and maintain formula and product specifications.
Support technical organization as needed to resolve consumer or production technical issues
Develops knowledge leading to improved formulations, technologies, devices, or processes, having marketable cost/performance advantages by designing and conducting robust experiments.
Collaborates with colleagues, as well as external networks and partners to leverage knowledge and meet assigned business objectives. Interfaces with other R&D, Operations, Engineering and service groups to acquire information and services necessary to meet assigned objectives. Modifies product design to create optimum balance between product and process.
Provides regular written documentation and oral presentations which both assess and record the progress of the work. Develops training materials and other documentation.
Participates in the safety program via regular assignments and by providing JSHAs (Job Safety and Health Analysis) and colleague training. Defines equipment requirements, and establishes and updates equipment and documentation that meets OSHA standards and Company policies. Defines and purchases materials that meet EPA standards and Company policies.
What we are looking for
Required Skills and Experience
B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or Science or equivalent work experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organization skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
Capable of working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience in formulation chemistry, raw materials, surfactants, and the ability to use this knowledge to develop innovative, cost-effective products
Experience leading chemical research, preferably related to consumer productor formulation development projects. This includes designing and developing formulas/products, developing test plans, analyzing data, and determining next steps in a development program
Ability to lead projects from fundamentals through scale up and implementation
Working Relationships
- Reports to and interfaces regularly with Management for guidance in the work program. Collaborates with colleagues, as well as external networks and partners to leverage knowledge and meet assigned business objectives.
Work Environment
Will work in a Research and Development technical laboratory setting.
Occasional travel, including international, may be required up to 10%.
Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring the use of hands, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
Exposure to health risks or conditions may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment, including the potential use of a respirator.
This position reports Monday-Friday, day shift. Occasionally, the schedule may vary from typical business hours.

Total Rewards Package
The salary range for this position is USD $68,000.00/Yr. - USD $105,000.00/Yr.
Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
