Job Title: Avionics Installer / Avionics Installation Technician

Job Description

This contract role focuses on troubleshooting, installing, and repairing communications and navigation systems on corporate aircraft. You will work hands-on with advanced avionics from leading manufacturers and support a diverse fleet in a professional maintenance and repair environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair corporate aircraft communications and navigation (COMMS/NAV) systems, including Honeywell, Collins, and Garmin equipment.

  • Perform installation of avionics systems and components in accordance with technical data, wiring diagrams, and regulatory requirements.

  • Carry out avionics electrical work, including routing, terminating, and testing wiring and harnesses for new and existing systems.

  • Conduct functional tests and inspections of avionics systems to verify proper operation and compliance with standards.

  • Use avionics troubleshooting techniques and test equipment to identify faults and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Assist with sheet metal fabrication and modification tasks related to avionics installations, including mounting trays, brackets, and structural supports.

  • Collaborate with maintenance and repair teams to coordinate aircraft downtime and ensure timely completion of installations and repairs.

  • Document all work performed, including parts used and test results, in maintenance tracking systems and on required forms.

  • Follow all FAA, DOT, and internal safety procedures while working in a safety-sensitive environment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the hangar and care for tools, test equipment, and aircraft components.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience with avionics system installation on aircraft.

  • Hands-on avionics electrical experience, including working with avionics electrical systems and components.

  • Ability to troubleshoot avionics systems effectively to identify and resolve issues.

  • Experience with avionics installation tasks such as wiring, terminations, and system integration.

  • Familiarity with corporate aircraft avionics systems and general aircraft maintenance practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to working safely in an FAA / DOT safety-sensitive environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Avionics troubleshooting experience that supports extended contract opportunities and higher pay potential.

  • Experience working on corporate jets such as Citation, Hawker, Gulfstream, King Air, and Piper aircraft is a plus.

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is a nice-to-have qualification.

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication and general sheet metal work related to avionics installations.

  • Experience in a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) or fixed base operations (FBO) environment is beneficial.

Work Environment

  • You will work in a clean, well-maintained aircraft hangar environment with access to three hangars dedicated to business aviation.

  • The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and operates within an FAA / DOT safety-sensitive setting, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

  • The facility supports comprehensive business aviation services, including charter, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and fixed base operations (FBO), providing exposure to a wide range of aircraft and avionics technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vandalia, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $50.00/hr.
