WorkSource Oregon Mechanical Engineer 2 in VANCOUVER, Washington
The Mechanical Engineer 2 plays a pivotal role in the design, coordination, and oversight of HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, and engine generator/fuel systems across a diverse portfolio of building facilities. This position is responsible for scoping, planning, and facilitating the construction, remodeling, and replacement of mechanical systems for substations, control houses, relay houses, radio buildings, maintenance headquarters, control centers, and other support structures. As part of the engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer 2 will escort architectural and engineering firms as well as outside construction contractors to conduct assessments, surveys, and bid tours. The position is based in Vancouver, Washington. Responsibilities \' Coordinate and oversee technical design and construction activities for HVAC, plumbing, fire detection, and generator systems. \' Provide detailed scoping and review of mechanical system design packages for building facility projects. \' Facilitate site surveys, assessments, and bid tours with external engineering and construction teams. \' Support the development of project documentation, statements of work, and procurement materials for design and construction. \' Participate in project reviews and contribute to the refinement of organizational standards, processes, and procedures. Required Technical Skills & Experience \' Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. \' Minimum of three years\' experience in the design and construction oversight of HVAC and plumbing systems. \' Proven expertise in fire alarm and detection systems, as well as engine generator/fuel system integration. \' Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and best practices relevant to commercial and industrial facilities. \' Experience with design coordination, review, and facilitation of construction projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. \' Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents. \' Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams, contractors, and external stakeholders. \' Proficiency in industry-standard software for mechanical design and drafting (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar). \' Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple projects and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications \' Professional Engineer (PE) license. \' Experience with remote facility infrastructure and specialized support buildings. \' Familiarity with controls, water/waste plumbing systems, and emerging sustainable mechanical technologies.
