Qualus Senior IT Support Specialist in Vancouver, British Columbia
Position Overview
Power your Future with Qualus as a Senior IT Support Specialist in our IT Department. The Senior IT Support Specialist provides Tier 2 technical support for the IT Service Desk, with a strong focus on Microsoft O365 environments, Azure Active Directory, and cybersecurity best practices. This role plays a key part in supporting O365 tenant migrations, strengthening security posture, and ensuring reliable system performances across the organization.
Working under the direction of the IT Director, this individual supports both on-site and remote users by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and security-related issues. Success in this role requires a service-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to identify root causes to drive long-term solutions.
Responsibilities
Provide Tier 2 support for IT Service Desk requests using a ticketing system
Support and administer Microsoft O365 services including Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Defender
Manage Azure Active Directory, including user access and identity services
Oversee O365 licensing and serve as SME for MFA/2FA and Conditional Access policies
Assist with O365 tenant migrations and system implementations
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation, reporting, and monitoring
Establish and manage SharePoint permissions, sites, folders, and file structures
Investigate and respond to reported phishing attempts and security incidents
Monitor and enhance cybersecurity posture aligned with standards such as NIST, SOC 2, and ISO 27001/27002
Identify recurring technical issues, determine root causes, and recommend long-term solutions
Escalate complex issues to management or vendors and act as a liaison for issue resolution
Participate in IT projects including planning, implementation, and support
Conduct technical research to support innovation and continuous improvement
Mentor junior team members and support their technical development
Ensure system performance, security, and operational integrity through proactive maintenance
Provide support for Microsoft applications on mobile devices (iOS/Android)
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
5-8+ years of experience in IT technical support in a customer-facing environment
Strong experience with Microsoft O365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Defender)
Hands-on experience with Azure Active Directory, ADConnect, and DirSync
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation
Experience with DNS management and email authentication protocols (DKIM, DMARC, SPF)
Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and practices including anti-malware, anti-virus, anti-ransomware, and spam filtering
Experience managing O365 Security & Compliance Center, including threat protection and security scoring
Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus or Tenable.io
Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, NERC-CIP, SOC 2, ISO 27001/27002)
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root causes
Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-service orientation
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), MCSE, or O365 certifications (preferred)
CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ (preferred)
