The Opportunity
Innovate and Lead – WSP’s Rail & Transit – Western Canada practice is seeking a Director to lead a multidisciplinary group of approximately 35 professionals based in Alberta. This team spans Project Management, Digital Tools, Communications / SCADA, and Signalling , delivering transformative transit and rail solutions across the region. Reporting to the Rail & Transit West VP , this strategic leadership role blends Business Development and Operational Excellence , shaping the future of mobility in Western Canada.
Your Impact
Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team to deliver complex rail and transit projects that enhance connectivity and sustainability.
Drive business development initiatives , cultivating client relationships and securing strategic opportunities that align with WSP’s vision.
Oversee operational performance , ensuring projects meet quality, safety, and financial targets while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Champion innovation , integrating digital tools and advanced technologies to optimise project delivery and client outcomes.
Collaborate with senior leadership , contributing to strategic planning and positioning WSP as a market leader in Western Canada’s rail and transit sector.
Represent WSP at industry forums, reinforcing our reputation as a trusted advisor and thought leader in transit and rail.
The Skills That Set You Apart
15+ years of progressive experience in rail and transit, with a strong track record in leadership and project delivery.
Significant experience winning work , including client engagement, capture planning, proposal leadership, and strategic growth planning.
Proven ability to manage large and complex projects , or a portfolio of projects, within a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with development of digital tools and systems engineering (communications, signalling, SCADA) is preferred.
Demonstrable passion for leveraging innovation in project delivery .
Business acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and operational performance management .
Professional engineering designation or equivalent credentials preferred.

Compensation
Base compensation starting at $208,229.
