DuPont is seeking an EHS Specialist to play a key role in advancing a strong safety culture across our Valley View and Stow, Ohio manufacturing facilities . Partnering closely with the Site EHS Manager, you will help drive continuous improvement in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and operational discipline—making a direct impact on the well‑being of our employees and the performance of our operations.
This is a highly visible, hands‑on role ideal for an EHS professional who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, collaborating with operations and engineering teams, and turning safety principles into real‑world results.
About the Business & Facilities
Our Valley View (180 employees) and Stow (40 employees) sites are part of DuPont’s Diversified Industrial business and are located in the greater Cleveland area, conveniently near I‑77, I‑480, and the Ohio Turnpike. Both facilities are expected to grow in the coming year.
Together, these sites manufacture high‑performance composite components used in aerospace, commercial, and military aircraft engines —supporting some of the world’s most demanding and advanced applications.
What You’ll Do
As an EHS Specialist, you will help shape and sustain a proactive safety culture by combining technical expertise with strong on‑site engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Champion safe work practices and regulatory compliance across manufacturing operations, with a focus on LOTO, permitting, machine safety, and ergonomics
Advise teams on safer equipment design, process changes, and risk reduction strategies
Track, analyze, and communicate leading and lagging EHS metrics to drive informed decision‑making
Lead and support employee safety engagement initiatives, including Kaizen events, safety councils, and toolbox talks
Conduct industrial hygiene sampling (airborne contaminants, noise, occupational exposures) and maintain compliance records
Oversee hazardous and non‑hazardous waste programs, ensuring compliant handling, storage, disposal, and reporting
Support air permit compliance activities, including emissions tracking and documentation
Lead fire safety programs, inspections, and emergency response drills in alignment with NFPA standards
Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities such as hazard analyses, operating procedures, and Management of Change
Lead or support internal EHS audits and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Ensure accurate reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses; perform root cause analyses and share learnings
Conduct and review job safety analyses to proactively identify and mitigate risk
Interface with regulatory agencies and take a leadership role during inspections
Develop, coordinate, and deliver impactful EHS training tailored to site operations
Participate in site and enterprise‑wide EHS projects, networks, and committees
Support occupational health and industrial hygiene programs as needed
What You Bring
Required / Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field
Experience in a manufacturing EHS role strongly preferred
Solid working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and federal EHS requirements
Demonstrated expertise in safe work practices, audits, incident investigation, and training delivery
Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and PHA activities
Ability to build trust and influence operators, mechanics, and leaders at all levels
Strong organizational skills, bias for action, and effective written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team‑based environment
CSP certification preferred , but not required
