Amazon XL Warehouse Equipment Operator

Job Overview

You’ll be part of the Amazon warehouse team that handles the big stuff – those unique customer orders that weigh over 50 pounds: big-screen TVs, furniture, appliances, and more. You’ll be trained on how to use technology to handle these heavy bulk items. You’ll train to be a heavy equipment operator, using powered industrial trucks (PIT) such as a forklift or pallet rider.

Basic Job Requirements

  1. Be 18 years or older

  2. Understand and follow instructions in English

  3. Lift up to 49 pounds

  4. Use safe handling practices for products weighing more than 50 pounds, employing team lifting techniques when required

  5. Stand and walk, as well as push, pull, squat, bend, and reach frequently during shifts

  6. Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around

  7. Go up and down stairs (where applicable)

  8. Safely manage heavy bulk items, including becoming a certified heavy equipment operator on powered industrial trucks (PIT) such as forklifts. You'll receive hands-on training.

What You’ll Do

  1. Operate powered industrial equipment (similar to forklifts) reaching up to 45 feet high—full certification and safety training provided at no cost

  2. Handle extra-large items through multiple warehouse processes: stowing, picking, loading, and unloading

  3. Store large inventory items in their designated warehouse locations

  4. Locate and retrieve customer orders efficiently using powered industrial trucks

  5. Safely move heavy items using carts, dollies, and pallet jacks while loading and unloading trailers

  6. Use handheld technology to track and maintain accurate inventory records

  7. Meet daily performance goals while following all safety procedures

Schedule Options

  1. Shift Options. Early Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Overnight hours.

  2. Weekly Hours. Full-Time (40 hours), Reduced-Time (30-39 hours), Part-Time (20-29 hours), or Flex-Time (as little as 4 hours per week).

  3. Schedule Flexibility. Choose from a Fixed weekly schedule or Flexible schedules.

  4. Operating Hours. Our sites operate 24/7, which means more shift options for you.

Work Conditions

  1. Temperature. Climate-controlled facilities maintain temperatures between 60°F and 90°F in most areas.

  2. Noise level. It can get noisy at times. We provide hearing protection if you need it.

  3. Dress code. Dress comfortably—closed-toe shoes required. Protective safety footwear required in select areas. $110 Zappos gift code provided for your first day.
