Job Description This position is for Drivers with or without a CDL License. Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Operate transit vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other road users at all times.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting passengers, answering questions, and assisting with boarding and disembarking as necessary.
- Route Management: Follow specified routes and schedules, making all designated stops, and maintaining adherence to timetables.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch, supervisors, and passengers, reporting any delays, emergencies, or incidents promptly.
- Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers with special needs, including those with disabilities, the elderly, and others requiring additional assistance.
- Fare Collection: Collect fares, issue transfers, and ensure accurate fare box reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records related to ridership, incidents, and other required documentation.
- Compliance: Adhere to all traffic regulations, company policies, and safety procedures to ensure a safe and compliant operation.
Qualifications:
- Licensing: Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement.
- Driving Record: Maintain a clean driving record, free from major violations or accidents.
- Experience: Previous experience in public transit or transportation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Customer Focus: Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service with a courteous and friendly demeanor.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse range of passengers.
- Problem Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently, making sound decisions in the best interest of safety and service.
- Physical Requirements: Capability to sit for extended periods and handle the physical demands of assisting passengers and operating transit vehicles.
Work Environment:
- This role requires working in varying conditions, including different weather scenarios and traffic situations.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required to meet operational needs.
