Mars VAT Analyst DACH in Unterhaching, Germany

Job Purpose

VAT Analyst DACH is part of the In Country Tax and Treasury Center (ICTC) Team for Mars DACH. The ICTC amongst others is responsible for the indirect tax affairs and reporting requirements for the DACH Mars entities. This scope of work includes VAT compliance activities, as well as monitoring changes in legislation, tax rulings, and regulations, but also understanding and determining the relevant impact of supply chain changes and other business driven projects. ICTC DACH forms a cluster together with ICTC Benelux and both work closely together. As such you will work within a mixed team, with expertise on both Direct and Indirect Tax, Statutory Accounting and Treasury for the cluster.

What will be you main responsibilities?

  • Provide VAT support to the various departments and stakeholders.

  • Prepare the German, Austrian and Swiss VAT tax returns and related filings.

  • Analyze and renew current VAT-processes to ensure effective VAT processes in DACH region.

  • Provide VAT support to and help onboard newly acquired entities.

  • Assist with the tax analysis of new business operations and international expansion plans.

  • Create VAT awareness and provide guidance to other departments and activities.

  • Support or prepare documentation for external and internal audits. Assist in meetings with external auditors.

  • Participate in Mars global tax projects and provide valuable tax support in order to reduce tax risks.

What are we looking for?

  • Education in tax law or relevant working knowledge is preferred.

  • Excellent understanding of the key indirect tax concepts.

  • Good working knowledge of indirect tax consequences of international trade (flow of goods).

  • Good working knowledge of SAP/ERP systems is preferred.

  • Understanding of customs regulations is considered a benefit.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills in order to interact with finance staff and senior management.

  • Independent, enthusiastic, informal, perseverant and a self-starter.

  • Fluent German and good working knowledge of English.
