Job Description Summary
United States (Home base, travelling 30% of the time within the USA to assist site activities, meeting with customers and training/meeting at Brossard office, Canada)
Within GE Vernova, Hydro division, Fleet Reliability & Operation team, the Lead Engineer is working on Hydro Turbine and Generator rehabilitation and new projects covering service, warranty and project completion. Within a 20+ skilled engineer team focused on reactivity and issue resolution.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Fleet (Engineering support of site activities)
Conduct site visits to assess the existing turbine and/or generator condition, supervise signature tests on the unit before disassembly at site.
Daily phone call with site team to answer questions and for problem anticipations.
Provide additional work recommendation upon dismantling and inspection of existing components
Site record sheet review and approval.
Non-conformity and general issue resolution.
Conduct site visits during the critical phases of the project.
Support commissioning and test phase.
Reliability
Issue resolution during warranty period
Provide Feedback of experience to the design team.
Operation
- Main site contact for operation and maintenance contracts.
Service
- Design and related documentation preparation for service projects including customer support, condition assessment, spare parts, part refurbishment, partial unit refurbishment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in hydro business.
Desired Characteristics
Willingness and ability to travel in North America and around the world.
Ability to work remotely in a team and communicate effectively.
Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check;
Must have unrestricted USA work authorization.
Creativity, reactivity, sense of urgency, a good mix of common sense and science, priority management, proactivity, autonomy, good communication skills, are the main characteristics require for this position.
Knowledge on Hydro Turbine and Generator design and erecting methods.
PE license is preferred
Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding processes are added values for the job
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
